How soon should I start looking for an au pair?

As a guideline, families should complete their program registration paperwork at least 8-10 weeks prior to their desired au pair arrival date.  The sooner a family registers, the more time they will have to find their perfect match!  Starting early will help ensure you find an au pair who meets all your expectations in terms of childcare experience (number of children, ages of children, type of experience), country of origin or native language, age of au pair, driving experience, English level, and any special interests or skills.  Once you have decided on an au pair to welcome to your family, you can expect him/her to arrive to your home in approximately 6 weeks.   During that time, the au pair will interview for a travel visa with the US Embassy in his/her own country, Cultural Care will make all the necessary travel arrangements, and the au pair will attend a week at our training school in New York City.

Will you be needing childcare this fall?  It’s time to start looking for an au pair!
